The role:
As a BDM, you will be the face of ITG within the North American travel trade market. Travel advisors will know you and associate you with our brands, destinations, and the quality of our work/trips. Operating from your home office, you will build awareness, enhance our reputation, and develop deep knowledge of your partners better than anyone.
Your primary focus will be to grow the lifetime value of our key trade partners through building strong relationships and making additional inquiries/bookings. To achieve this, you will work with existing partners, as well as seek and onboard new advisors and agencies, deliver training and webinars (both virtual and in-person), provide marketing materials, and offer rewards to your key accounts/advisors. You will take a key position in tracking, measuring, and influencing strategies and tactics to achieve this growth.
What You Will be Doing:
Partner Development & Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong, meaningful relationships with existing trade partners in the North American market
Ensure partners are up to date with the latest information about the destinations and services we offer
Support partners in identifying which of their clients are a good match for what we do
Activate key and potential accounts through targeted training and engagement
Drive advisor retention and increased lifetime value through consistent, personalized engagement
Training & Education
Onboarding potential and new advisors
Provide comprehensive training on how to sell each ITG destination
Deliver virtual webinars and training sessions to advisors across the USA
Provide back-up attendance for larger company events as needed
Business Development & Acquisition
Actively seek and identify appropriate new advisors and businesses across North America, with a focus on our preferred partnerships with Virtuoso, WESTA, and a selection of key host agencies that we are partnered with.
Research and qualify potential trade partners provided by the Trade Partnerships Manager.
Onboard new advisors effectively, setting them up for success
Contact, meet, and develop partnerships with the agencies and advisors within your local same day drivable market to expand their awareness of the brand.
Events & Representation
Represent ITG at industry events, conferences, and partner functions
Attend host agency conferences and regional events as strategically appropriate
Coordinate and deliver destination showcases and training sessions at partner locations.
Evaluate event ROI and recommend future participation strategies
Travel Expectations
Approximately 80% of your time will be spent traveling for:
Supporting and engaging your local market
In-person meetings with key existing partners
Regional trade shows and conferences
Destination training sessions at partner locations
Meetings with prospective agencies/advisors
Visit the Broomfield, CO office at least twice annually for team meetings and participation in 'Insight Days'
Eligible for biennial familiarization trips to our destinations
What We Are Looking for From You:
2+ years of proven experience in business development, sales, or account management (travel industry preferred)
Knowledge of or passion for Japan and Asia destinations
Ideally, you have travelled to Japan.
Comfortable working independently from a home office with minimal supervision
Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
Strong presentation skills for both virtual and in-person settings
Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational abilities
Comfortable with technology and virtual communication platforms
Existing relationships within the travel advisor community (preferred)
Willingness to travel as needed
