Destination Impact Executive
Be our on‑the‑ground impact lead in Japan—travel widely, build trusted local partnerships, gather credible impact evidence, and turn it all into real improvements and standout storytelling.
Destination Impact Executive
The role:
We’re looking for an on-the-ground impact specialist in Japan; a brand-new role working directly with local suppliers, community partners and destination organisations to build trusted relationships and gather credible, on the ground insight and impact evidence from the destinations and communities who host our customers.
You’ll turn what you learn in destination into decision ready evidence — combining local perspectives with data to inform better choices and helping to roll out new pilots and targeted initiatives in destination (including work linked to under visited destinations, community tourism and supply chain decarbonisation), with regular travel across Japan. Alongside this, you’ll capture the stories, insights, images and shortform video that shows customers, partners and the wider industry what’s really happening on the ground.
Key responsibilities:
Build trusted relationships with suppliers and community partners across Japan.
Gather credible, on‑the‑ground insight, on tourism impacts, priorities and opportunities in communities we work with.
Capture and maintain verified impact evidence in destination — data, stories, quotes, images and supporting context (with clear permissions).
Collect supplier impact data through surveys/inspections and manage it through tools such as Hotel Resilient
Identify practical opportunities for suppliers to improve our local impact and reduce carbon emissions
Help deliver targeted pilots and initiatives in destination (including community tourism and supplychain decarbonisation), working with partners where needed
Turn destination insight into clear, evidenced content producing pieces like blog posts, short articles and webpage updates as well as stories for our marketing, PR and content teams
Share destination insight with global teams to inform product decisions, reporting and responsible delivery on the ground.
What we are looking for from you:
Experience working directly with suppliers, partners or communities
Business-level Japanese + English for confident stakeholder engagement
Strong understanding of Japanese culture and social context; lived/worked in Japan.
Comfortable travelling within Japan regularly and working independently.
Can capture high-quality photos and short video on the go (phone/camera).
Can write clearly in English for external audiences (e.g., blogs/short articles).
Sharp attention to detail on evidence quality, permissions and consent — with good judgement on what’s credible and usable.
Practical and grounded: focused on real outcomes for people and places.
Curious, respectful, and good at building trust over time.
You don’t need to meet every requirement. If you’re motivated, passionate, and think you’d be a great fit, we would love to hear from you. As an equal opportunities' employer, we're committed to making our recruitment process inclusive, accessible, and welcoming for everyone. If you require any adjustments or accommodations to support you during the recruitment process, please let us know.
What you get in return:
Japanese Health Insurance, Employee’ Pension Scheme, Employment Insurance, and Labour Accident Compensation
23 days annual leave
Day off on your birthday
Volunteering leave
Annual Health Check
Employee Assistance Program
Designated learning and development time
Annual discretionary company performance bonus
Extensive travel throughout Japan as part of the role.
Hybrid/remote working options in line with our flexible working policy (with onboarding likely in-office initially).
